CHAPTER 1

YOU HAVE FULL CHARGE OVER YOUR MIND

Consider these people who with their unwavering mindset, have brought about tremendous change to this world and know that your millionaire mindset if it is to the benefit of all, is realistic and sure to happen.

Martin Luther King kept his dream alive and ablaze even in the midst of great opposition and oppression.

Mother Theresa showed unconditional love for the people who showed immense animosity and hatred and yet thrived in their midst.

Barack Obama succeeded against all odds of becoming the first black president of the United States of America. The list goes on

“ One man who has a mind and knows it, can always beat ten men who have not and do not know it.” George Bernard Shaw

You have total charge of your thought processes and you can create the future you want through the power of your mind. You can train your mind to imagine and envision the possibilities of the places where you want to go, of the things you want to achieve and of the lives you want to touch.

Every brain cell in your mind can be super charge, charged to its highest potential and made to perform at its best. Then again, the brain is wired such that any cell that is not in use looses its function. Make good use of every brain cell. Let them go to work for you.
It has always been a source of wonder for me to see how easily children pick up languages, how quickly they are able to learn with the least amount of effort and how delicately they can be moulded with ease. The reason being that their brain cells are readily available to absorb information.
It is also astonishing that as we grow from one stage to another, the number of our brain cells grow larger. Larger than the number of galaxies in our universe – over 100 trillion connections, but we fail to use them; we fail to learn about the mind’s incredible abilities and innate capabilities. We fail to simply appreciate all the hundred trillion connections and only the few in our society who put theirs to use, excel.
There is no excuse for any under achiever as you can see how powerful your mind is now.
The mind can increase in knowledge at any stage in ones’ life once it is stimulated to reach its limitless boundaries.

“99% of the world is asleep. The 1% that is awake remains in a constant state of amazement.”
Meg Ryan in a movie

Get your mind in an awakened state and slumber no more!

Let us talk about the brain and how it is intelligently built and designed to function.
Roger Sperry in 1983 discovered that the brain could be divided into two main parts – the right and left parts.
Your left-brain controls your analytical, logical and verbal abilities. This is the part of your brain that thinks not in a colour, but in terms of language, mathematics and anything that occurs in order and concrete or tangible form.
The right brain however thinks visually, understands music and abstract things such as love, loyalty and beauty.
In my first book 10 exam secrets of highly successful teens I talked about our learning style and how every child enters school using their right brain – painting, singing and creating games. As we grow we begin to use our left-brain for mathematics, history, geography etc. and gradually loose the function of the right side.

Where am I getting to with all this information, your brain is capable of painting doom or gloom. It is equally capable of living in love as it is of living in hatred. You are gifted with both abilities. Then again note that wherever two things exist one will certainly dominate. Is your left or right brain your main driving force?
Are you planning on using that powerful asset located between your ear lobes to achieve greatness or using it to be an employee somewhere, where its full potential is being put to waste and nothing of significance?

This world’s geniuses are the people who have developed the ability to use both the left and right sides at the same time or are able to easily switch between the two.
Any mind can be trained to be highly productive, in its thinking.

Albert Einstein used both parts of his brains for his great accomplishments. Why will you leave your powerful mind to lie dormant, untapped and unharnessed, whereas you could take full charge and control of its activities?

This is what is said about Leonardo da Vinci the world’s greatest sculptor and architect; Leonardo pursued knowledge with unrelenting energy… His writings demonstrate that creativity drives discovery and that Art and Science – often seen as opposites can infact inform and influence each other – The mind of a great Renaissance master. You – dear teen could have history written about you in the same way.

Unleash the power of your mind. Take full control, it does not matter how old you are, otherwise something or somebody else will control it. Use both parts of this freely given asset.

Begin to use your mind in a constructive way and stop going along the destructive path.

“You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.” Mahatma Gandhi

“I know but one freedom and that is the freedom of the mind. Antoine de Saint Exupery

“If you wish to know the mind of a man, listen to his words.” Chinese Proverb

Your mind I believe is now asking questions;
How can I take full charge of what I put in my mind?
How can I control my thought processes?
How can I begin to see myself as a millionaire?

These questions will set your brain looking for answers. Remember your brain is more powerful than you know or have been made to believe, think and recognise.
A powerful mind continuously seeks knowledge and information so that it will produce results; results in every field of endeavour.

“Just as iron rusts from disuse, even so does inaction spoil the brain. Leonardo Da Vinci

Make excellent use of your mind; see it as your most priced possession and take full ownership.

MIND BUGGLING QUESTIONS

How have I been putting my mind to use?

Excellent Use ……
Good Use ……
Fair Use ……
No Use ……
Bad Use ……

How can I make full use of this powerful MIND? What do I need to stop doing or what do I begin doing? …………………………………………………
………………………………………………….
………………………………………………….
………………………………………………….

Which am I practicing?
USE ABUSE
Reading informative books Hanging out with friends
all the time.

Researching something of Excessive television
personal interest. watching.

Finding a mentor or coach Joining a street gang.

Cultivating useful habits Practising destructive
habits.

POSITIVE MIND TALK

I use my powerful brain in a constructive way.

I relentlessly acquire useful information for my mind to process and apply.

I use my super intellect to the best of its ability.

Chapter One

To Eat Is a Necessity

The Bible says that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Food was first mentioned in the Bible during the creation, when God gave man, mainly plants and seeds to be his food and then gave him control and charge over all these.

We have been created to eat for sustenance, but life is not all about food. Food should not rule over anyone, as that was not God’s original plan. You have the rule over what you put inside your body, not the other way around. You should not just eat, because it tastes nice or just because food is available.

Many people in today’s society are controlled by food, because of insatiable appetites and craving for food that are not even conducive to the human body, as their taste buds have been twisted with additives, flavourings and colourings.

It has been discovered that you can actually survive without food for probably a period of three weeks, three days without water and three minutes without air. This straightaway tells you the importance and position of food in your life, on a scale of one to three. Obviously the above predictions depend on your physical condition.

Food is meant to bring you energy, health and vitality – not disease, but we have abused food to the extent that it has now become an enemy. Why should we over eat so that our bodies are not able to cope, but become ill? To eat is a necessity, but life is not all about eating. Eat in moderation, eat wisely, eat so your body does not feel the pressure to over work in its digestive process.

When you learn the art of eating correctly, no disease will be able to attack your body. Learn to balance what you eat so your body will not suffer later. Diseases have become so rampant in this century mainly due to life-styles.

Think about this, your parents never had the diseases they are complaining about today, when they were your age. The question is how come these same once upon a time carefree healthy-looking youngsters become older people riddled with all kinds of illnesses? You see, nobody takes notice of their health until they begin to have challenging health problems. They then fall prey to all kinds of medications, seeking for healing in their bodies, which would never have been an issue, if they had learnt to eat correctly in their teen years. The sad truth is that these chemically based medications have terrible side effects.

What happens when we keep on pouring oil down a drain? Initially, you would probably not notice any difference, but gradually the drain will get blocked, inevitably. In the same way analyse what will be happening to your arteries, which is comparable to the drain? Remember, your arteries are even thinner than the drain and are easily clogged. The function of your arteries is to carry blood away, so if they are blocked what will happen next.

Wisdom should be able to tell you that over a long period of time of eating chicken and chips – full of oil, one thing is unavoidable. How about continuously eating too much salted foods? Or drinking all the carbonated drinks in the world? Too much salt in the blood eventually results in high blood pressure. Too much sugar from these carbonated drinks eventually gives rise to diabetes. Most children born these days have this life-style disease, even before they enter the world. What do you personally think is the problem? The source of these diseases sadly comes from their parents.

You will agree that food is enjoyable, but unfortunately the manufacturing companies have capitalised on this and developed people’s taste buds to maximise their profits. They have increasingly abused chemicals to stimulate people’s taste buds to unhealthy and unwholesome foods.

Interestingly enough, different cultures cook different kinds of food and have their own style of cooking, it is heart-rending to know that certain cooking styles and methods cause great harm to health. These poor cooking habits are passed on from generation and a particular disease becomes a part of their race. They normally do not notice that their style of cooking is causing their problems.

Food is used for all kinds. For recreation, for celebration etc. We as a society have learnt to celebrate with food. This is great as during Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Birthday, Christening you name, food is normally what everyone looks out for aside socialising.

Overeating – the Bible describes as gluttony and is not pleasant in God’s sight. During most of our socialising, we indulge in one thing that is overeating. Heaping food and devouring it might not be the best for your body, but we all get got up in the spare of the moment and this causes trouble.

“There comes a time when the mind takes a higher plane of knowledge, but can never prove how it got there.” Albert Einstein

As you begin to increase your knowledge and begin to re-shape your mind and thoughts at a stage, you will not be able to pinpoint the time when your whole personality transformed. You will begin to see the possibilities of life that were invisible to you before. You will not notice the particular time when the LIGHT comes on. That is the amazing power of a mind that refuses to live in mediocrity.

All self-made millionaires encrypt success on their minds. They carry a winning attitude and mentality with them wherever they go and the universe picks up on their vibrations and resonances responding to their requests. All of them know without a shadow of doubt that their actions will result in abundance.

“If you have the will to win, you have achieved half your success; if you do not, you have achieved half your failure.” David Ambrose. David says it explicitly. To have the attitude of a winner is certainly half the victory won. Understand that not all men have the desire to win. Those who conquer and surmount any obstacles and misfortunes are those who possess the winning strike. For them winning is not an option, but a must.

Learn not to talk or walk in defeat, because no one can be defeated until they first entertain defeat in their own minds. Winning and defeat do not coexist. They simply cannot live together in harmony; you either carry a winning attitude or loser spirit.
Notice how winners conduct themselves in the following quotes:

“A winner is someone who recognises his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.” Larry Bird

“If you trust the winner within, you will win. If you can keep your courage you will go so far. If you follow your ambitions, your course will guide you towards a ladder that you can climb to your stars.” Unknown

“You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win and expect to win.”
Zig Ziglar

“Some people say that I have an attitude – maybe I do. But I think that you have too. You have to believe in yourself when no one else does – that makes you a winner right there.” Venus Williams

“The winner’s edge is not in a gifted birth, a high IQ or in talent. The winner’s edge is all in the attitude not aptitude. Attitude is the criterion for success.” Denis Waitley

“For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.”
Arnold Schwarzeneggar

“A winner makes commitment. A loser makes promises. People who stick through thick and thin times are the winners.”
Laura Lyseight

“The winner asks; “May I help? The loser asks; “Do you expect me to do that?”
William Arthur Ward

“A quitter never wins and a winner never quits.
Napoleon Hill.

Hope these quotes have painted a vivid picture of the winner in your mind.
Winners do not moan, groan or whine, they simply get on with life, concentrating on ways to win out of every day situations handed them. They have learnt to form habits that losers dislike. They have studied how not to be intimidated by mountains or adversities that come their way. They live in appreciation of the fact that life is not worth living until you have come to terms with some difficulties and solved it, they go looking for problems to solve. After all “What are problems for?” “What is the essence of trials, tests and adversities?” They only come to make you the individual stronger and toughened for the road ahead.

When you take that right decision as a young growing person, not to join the gang, the wise decision to abstain from pre-marital sex, the decision to stay focused and increase your knowledge, not to let your mood dictate to you, not to be influenced by peer pressure – you are becoming a winner, you are excelling, you have began opening the doors to your better future.

As you have the opportunity to live you will soon come to see that it is better to solve one gigantic problem – a mountain, rather than having to deal with many potholes or foothills. Why deal with many small problems when you could solve one major problem that will take care of all the small ones. A typical example will be, working from nine o’clock to five o’clock to pay your bills, whereas if you took the time to find your true purpose and develop the skill to go with it, you could make your millions. Finding money to pay bills and other financial commitments will be the least of your worries.
Brian Tracy has an interesting way of saying this, he says “You work 8 hours per day for survival; everything over 8 hours per day is for success.” Start working your way to success. That is where you belong.

Oprah Winfrey says “Although there may be tragedy in your life, there’s always a possibility to triumph. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you. Always.”
It does not matter whatever or how many tragedies you have already faced – abusive parents or guardians, friends telling you that you are not cool or smart and shunning your company, a broken home, rape, alcoholism, you name them, but these should make you strong rather than destroy you any further.

Any change in your mindset needs to begin personally with you. You are better than all that has happened to you in the past or what is happening now. Infact you are the apple of God’s eye and He watches jealously over you if you will let Him.
You need to understand that tragedy comes to all and sundry, but how you process it depends largely on your self-belief. Needless to say, most of our struggles are self-inflicted due to ignorance and naiveness. Inspite of the source of the adversity, develop a strong attitude of the winner.

If you want the glory then danger is inevitable. If you want the millions then roll your sleeves back and be prepared to face your challenges and setbacks squarely in the face. Even Jesus Christ had to die on the cross in order to save the world.

Triumph always follows adversity, when one learns not to give up.

Anytime you fall (falling is unavoidable on your way to success), pick up something worthwhile on your way up. That is the attitude of the winner in you. The winner in you says “Let’s go and solve that problem so it will not get us again next time.”

Go through history and you will soon notice that no history is made on people who made the fewest mistakes or those who had the fewest challenges, but on those who won the battles of life and rode upon their high places.

Continually search for new ways of doing anything you do. Nothing happens when you decide to stand still.

Read the story about a teen whose temporary adversity brought about a trophy victory and the winner in her. Taylor Swift vividly recollects, “The kids at school thought it was weird that I liked country music – they’d make fun of me. Junior high was actually sort of hard, because this group of popular girls damped me. They didn’t think I was cool or pretty enough, so they stopped talking to me…. I played a hometown show about a year into my career and they (the popular girls) showed up, wearing my T-shirts and asking me to sign their CDs. It was bittersweet, because it made me realize that they didn’t remember being mean to me and that I needed to forget about it, too and really, if I hadn’t come home from school miserable every day, maybe I wouldn’t have been so motivated to write songs. I should probably be thanking them.”

Taylor’s adversity pushed her to bring out the winner in her. Every trial or uncomfortable feeling you may experience is what will bring out the winner in you. What happens to a tea bag once it is immersed in hot water? It gives you your fine brewed tea. Do you think the tea bag loves being put in hot water? I personally do not think so. That can be said to be its trying moments, it’s adversity but how else can you get your lovely cup of tea if you do not pour hot water over it? You see the same water that makes the tea uncomfortable is the same water needed to bring out the best in the tea. Without that steaming water you cannot tell what is in the tea bag.

Look at this analogy. Imagine you are being asked to identify 3 sponges that have been soaked over night with certain liquid substances. How can you really tell what each of the sponges are impregnated with? I presume your best answer will be to squeeze the sponges and you are right. Without applying pressure on those sponges, you will never be able to tell what each one contains. In the same way when you are pressured it brings out the best in you. Without some pressure, you cannot tell what you are capable of doing or the heights that you are prepared to go.

Gold has to go through fire in order to be refined. Diamonds must be polished over and over again. Just place yourself at the mercy of being shined over and over again until you become brilliant.

In life everybody goes through highs and lows. At times everything just falls in their proper places – you are the most popular person in school, everybody thinks you are cool and want to be your friend. There are also times when every thing seems to go crazy and nothing seems to go right in your life. Life has a funny way of making us realize that we always have to be constantly reaching out to our next level . That is the beauty about life you cannot comfortably stay at one level for too long, you need to reach up higher. Try to get out of a stagnant life it does not pay much.
“Our life is perhaps like a song. It has its high and low notes, but it all fits into a beautiful melody.” Saurabh Agarwal. Create that beautiful melody with your life. You are an amazement, you are a wonder and winner!

A healthy lifestyle from an early age is necessary for a teen who wants to become a healthy adult.

It has been found that, cutting down on salt intake during one’s teen or even better in one’s tween years will lead to a healthier heart and a healthier lifestyle along the road as an adulthood catches up.
A research conducted by American Heart Association discovered American teens had about 9 grams of the white stuff (salt) daily. In the U.K it is slightly higher than their U.S counterparts.

This intake of salt may not cause any health problems in one’s teen years, but the reason why most adults have high blood pressure is due to the accummulation of this sodium chloride the scientific name for salt, from an earlier age, probably in their teen years.

We need to take in a maximum, of 6grams daily which is the equivalent of a teaspoon full and yet we are consumming more, as we eat all the highly processed foods -pizzas, cheese, bread, soups to say a few. Most of what we eat, especially the fast foods are loaded with salt, to stimulate and tantalise our taste buds, which have succeeded in making us prisoners to this commodity.

Our babies and toddlers are introduced to crisps from such an early age that, they have no idea about minimising their intake of salt from this tender age, so they grow up to be tweens and teens with insatiable tastes.
It is sad to see that before they are barely walking, their taste buds have already been exposed to the salt they should be consumming over a long period o time.

Sodium Chloride on it’s own, is not harmful, but if you want to enjoy it for as long as you live, then you should learn to eat it in moderation.
You do not want a health problem arising during your adult years, where you will be told by the doctor to cut it out completely from your diet.
Be wise now as you have the opportunity to eat it moderately.

A Teenage Research Unlimited (TRU) reports that teenage spending has risen by more than 50% in the last three years. These same teens, who may be failing in the National School Examinations, seem to be getting high marks on their spending.

What has caused and brought our teens to this place where they feel entitled to mobile phones, designer labels, over priced electronic gadgets and dinning at fast food restaurants?

The credit card debt way of life must be dissuaded and discouraged from an early age.
A stop must be put to this outrageous life style; least you become UNCONTROLLABLE SPENDER.

Are you aware that in the UK alone, the average teen was known to have spent £55 a week in 2001, mainly on clothes, accessories and fast foods?

Do not worry, as you alone are not to blame for this disastrous occurrences and prolific spending habits, since some parents have neglected their responsibilities to a certain extent. They are pre-occupied and are overwhelmed by work and careers. Then there are those with troubled family lifestyles – divorce, single, an absent father or mother to say a few.

Such parents out of guilt try to cover up their insufficiencies by showing their children “the money”. This has given rise to teens with CAREFREE BIG SPENDING HABITS and insatiable GREEDY APPETITES.

The aim of this book is to catch this unruly habit early and throw light on the positive life style of the go-getter entrepreneurial teen.

As a teen, you need to be educated financially and quickly too. Make it a obligation so you do not fall into the same traps as your parents and predecessors have fallen into. However if you think educating yourself this way will be expensive, then you should reconsider your stand, as your ignorance will cost you millions in unwise spending.

Billy Graham a renowned evangelist said “If a person gets his attitude toward money straight, it will help straighten out almost every other area of his life.”

Dr. J.A. Holmes said, “Never tell a young person that something cannot be done. God may have been waiting for centuries for somebody ignorant enough of the impossible to do that thing.”

As a teen, with the right kind of knowledge, information and exposures you could be the next Bill Gates, Richard Branson, TD Jakes, Piccasso, Albert Einstein and the kind of person who will greatly influence their world in a positive way.
Train yourself to be a history maker and a world shaker.
The sad truth is that scarcity consciousness will gladly seize any mind that is not occupied with invention and money awareness. This awakening to entrepreneurship is a must for all teens who desire not to follow the status quo.

The story of your life has already begun; write it exactly the way you want it to be read. Do not let situations, circumstances and bad choices write it for you. Take control now. Learn, observe and act on the knowledge you gain from books(especially this book), from others who have trodden the same paths you want to pursue and through sharing what you have learnt with others.

Entrepreneurship is the key in today’s world. Set this standard and you will achieve it.

What has caused you to see your once upon a time adorable son or daughter as a monster? Is it all the talking back, arguments, slumming of doors, the lies, mood swings, peer pressure, and everything in between that is causing this judgement?

Deep down that young person wishes they were the kind of son or daughter that you were proud of, but alas the influx of hormones distorts their reasoning. That son or daughter you carried for 9 months and smiled at when you held them for the first time, is now lost due to the society and chaotic environment in which they are finding themselves. The truth is, you as a parent stand the chance of helping them to redefine, rediscover and reassess their destiny.

All the falling grades in school, the gangs and crime, untimely relationships with the opposite sex can all be channelled positively to a greater and brighter future. All the identity crisis and misguided priorities can be changed.

Don’t give up on him or her, instead put yourself in their shoes and listen to their heart cry for help. Remember your teen years, when you so much wanted somebody to hear you out and understand your feelings? It is now your turn to do the same. If however this is proving highly impossible, seek the help of a teen coach. Visit http://www.lauralyseight.com.

Also encourage them to read mind-empowering and transforming books at http://www.success4teens.info.
Rest assured, your teen can be rewired 4 success.
